This two-piece clamshell-style brace is designed to reinforce the most vulnerable point of the swing arm—mounting just forward of the rear tire on the passenger side of the horizontal crossmember. That area has been known to break in two when the shock bottoms out under maximum load (passengers + cargo), especially when preload is set too low and the vehicle encounters sudden road dips or big compressions after high spots in the road. When this break happens, directional control is LOST.
While The VanderSpa's VanderBrace Swing Arm Brace will fit ALL Vanderhall Venice and Carmel models, it is intended primarily for all 2017–2019 Venice models equipped with the "original", unreinforced “Gen 1” swing arm. These early models lack the additional structurally cast reinforcement and integrated chassis bump-stop protections found in later years, making them more prone to swing arm failure under certain load stress and suspension over-compression conditions.
